Hi everyone! Today, I’m going to compare two popular ring planners: the Filofax Finsbury and the Meeplus Slimpad. Let’s dive right in!
1. Appearance
First up, the look. The Finsbury has this cute, chubby vibe. On the other hand, the Slimpad has a more minimalist design, with a sleek metal spine that makes it feel super elegant and business-friendly.
2. Storage
The biggest difference between these two planners is the storage. The Finsbury has tons of pockets—there’s a large pocket for cash or stickers, plus additional card slots on both the left and right sides. It even has a zippered pocket on the right where you can stash coins. The Slimpad, however, is super simple. It doesn’t have any built-in pockets. If you want to use it as a wallet, you’d need to add an accessory like this cardholder.
3. Lay-flat design
When it comes to laying flat, the Slimpad wins. The Finsbury doesn’t lay completely flat, mostly because of its large pockets. Meanwhile, the Slimpad opens perfectly flat. This makes it super convenient for jotting things down. However, with the Finsbury, if you want to write something down, you’ll need to reopen the planner and flip to the page you want, which can be a bit inconvenient.
4. Portability
Now for portability. The Finsbury uses 19mm rings, so it’s quite thick. It might not fit in smaller bags. The Slimpad, on the other hand, uses 11mm rings, making it ultra-thin and lightweight. It’s easy to slip into your pocket or bag, which means you’re more likely to take it with you wherever you go.
5. Writing experience
For writing, the Slimpad’s smaller rings give it an edge—it’s super comfortable even when you’re writing on the left-hand side. The Finsbury’s larger rings can be a bit awkward for left-side writing, but you can always take the pages out if needed.
6. Leather quality
Lastly, let’s talk about the leather. The Finsbury uses standard pebbled cowhide leather. It’s durable and resists scratches, which is great for daily use. The Slimpad, though, uses premium leather like Pueblo, which develops a beautiful patina over time. This aging process is so satisfying to watch! Slimpad also offers other leather options, which I’ll cover in another video. One thing to note: Pueblo leather is more prone to scratches, but honestly, those marks tell a unique story and add so much character. I personally think they look stunning.
So, that’s my comparison of the Filofax Finsbury and the Meeplus Slimpad! Which one do you prefer? Let me know in the comments below.
